Andy Best
I have just spoken to AP re a replacment clutch. If I go via Caterham the clutch plate part is CP2257-44 however AP state I could buy part CP2257-9 which is virtually the same, somthing technical to do with the springs that changes across the parts I couldn't quite understand the difference but I was told that it won't cause me a problem. Guess what part CP2257-44 is nearly twice the price of CP2257-9 and Caterham has exclusive sale of the CP2257-44. Does anybody know the exact difference in laymans terms, why make two identically performing parts? Should I buy the cheaper part locally or just cough up the extra 30-40 quid, + p&p, and support the Nearns lifestyle - it's not only the cost it's the Caterham mail order hassal against the very efficent local dealer that concerns me. Peter Carmichael
AP Racing's own product selector suggests CP2257-9 in combination with the CP3748-6 coverfor K-series and Ford powered Caterhams.

Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted December 12, 2002 Leadership Team Share Posted December 12, 2002 Uprated in what manner, and what would be the downside if the standard AP part was used in a high powered Caterham, eg. Superlight R.
Lawrence_Z
Hearsay The racers were having trouble with the damper springs failing, and so they upgraded the springs etc /hearsay I believe the friction material is the same, and the cost is circa £45 from parts@caterham.co.uk PTVOC
Andy Best
Lawrence, Thanks for the info, is £45 for the 'new' -44 part? Caterham quoted me £75.00 for the plate could mean they've picked up the wrong part/cost - I think a phone call is in order tomorrow. Andy

Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted December 13, 2002 Leadership Team Share Posted December 13, 2002 Does all this mean that in a non-racer situation the lesser part is likely to be fine ? Stu.
