Damaged alloy

Has anybody used any type of body filler on alloy?

 

We are presently building an SV which the customer now wants painting. The chassis has 2 small dents that require filling, but we are being told that body filler doesn't work on alloy; any suggestions?

Terry, a search on Google suggests Bondo is worth investigating further

Normally you would first use a fiber reinforce filler, but if the dents are very small you can use a filler that works on Ali. Your local Jaguar or Audi dealer/ bodyshop surely has the answer.

There are special body fillers (sorry bondo's) for use with aluminium. These work well and should give no issues into the future.

 

I have used regular body filler and also had no issues but on a customer car probably worth using the right stuff. Have used Upol products with good results, whilst they do not show a alloy specific filler a couple of theirs do say they are suitable for alloy substrates.
