Guy Lowe
Whilst refitting my road wheels after a track day and torquing up the wheel nuts, one of the rears will not tighten as the stud is turning in the hub. Â My question is, can I just press in a new stud or will the hub be damaged allowing the new stud to rotate? TIA Guy
Stationary M25 Traveller
Depends if the hub hole is worn or the little splines missing off the stud ? Knock it backwards and try a dollop of stud or bearing lock on the stud ?
ECR
Normally the new stud fixes the problem. Otherwise, slightly deforming the hole should do the trick. Good luck !
Guy Lowe
Thank you chaps, pushed it back, cleaned it up pushed back in with plenty of Loctite 638. Will now leave it overnight and see if that fixes it, if not it's hub off 😔 Guy
Birkin S3 ZA.
There are some new studs you can buy that have slightly bigger splines for this problem. It was Demon tweaks or Burton power I saw them
