It's available from their eBay store at £49.99 including a bracket and postage and packing. Would this be interesting as a Bulk Buy or as a Club discount if we can arrange to buy enough? Current concerns and possible reluctance: * This is so cheap we couldn't get much off * Batteries are expensive and sometimes difficult to transport * BlatChat hasn't quite reached unanimity on preferred batteries... myothercarsa2cv Posted September 23, 2013 Share Posted September 23, 2013 Assuming this is a re-badged Ultramax battery, which I'm guessing it is, then this is an adequate battery (but not the best). The good points: - It's lighter than the Banner by a good kilo - The cranking power is plenty good enough to start my standard 1.6K engine - It is sealed so can be laid on it's side The bad points (which aren't really that bad): - It doesn't fit laid down where the banner used to be on an S3, requiring either an upright installation or relocation to the bulkhead (I put mine where the heater would go) - depending on your cables, this might be a stretch - If it gets fully discharged, it recovers but not fully - you will have to buy a new one to get the full oomph back (I left the lights on once and had to bump start; it can still start the engine, but not as well as it used to) - It doesn't appear to like infrequent use - My first one leaked a little after 2 years So, you do get what you pay for, but with a master switch and some due diligence, it could last longer than the standard Banner. Being sealed means no maintenance, being cheap means that you aren't so fussed if it does die. I'd buy another, but whatever brand was cheapest. I'd be interested to know, if you can find out JK, what the connections are as the two pics on the ebay ad are different.
