yankeedoodoo
A friend just got a C7 with cycle fenders. The strut to which the fender is attached rubs against his ACB10 on the right side. The friction seems enough to eventually cause tire failure---sooner, not later. Is this a common problem? And is there a simple solution(other than get clamshells 😬)? He bought the car assembled so I suspect the problem originates there. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you! Alex Wong1697456877
You can either fit a small spacer or get the new "race" wingstays which have an indent where the friction occurs. or just take a hammer and lever to the current wingstay. flatten the area where the friction occurs and lever the whole stay away from the tyre. Buda
thinner wheels and tyres, looked into getting wider wheels at one stage but as alex said requires the 'race' wingstays which as he also said are notched, I didn't bother in the end because I ran out of money, again.. stevefoster
Ali wheel to hub spacers are cheap at ~£3 each. They do 3mm, 6mm, 9mm etc... I have to run these on a set of Revolution wheels I have but that is to do with the stud and bolt compatibility. If you space then make sure the studs a long enough to give at least 1.5X the stud diameter of thread into the wheel nuts.  /Steve My racing pics, 7 DIY, race prep. yankeedoodoo
Gents: Thank you for your well considered answers. I figured that a few solutuions would "pop up" and that's just what we needed. Thanks AGAIN!!!! Please come over and drink and drive with us soon-----not necessarily in that order! It doesn't rain much in southern California and you just might find the weather to be surprisingly hospitable to driving a 7... 😬
Nick M
Might need to pay you chaps a visit in January then !! 😬 Just had the ETA for my Westfield which is around December 20th, into Los Angeles. Then it will be trucked to Arizona and I can begin the fun of explaining to the Motor Vehicle Division here why I want a plate for a funny little British sportscar.... yankeedoodoo
Nick M: Whenever you are ready, just let me know and I'll try to get a few of us together for some fun. With good forward planning I sure I can help you get situated here. Much of Arizona moves to San Diego county for the summer. Starting in March you might be able to enter a local autocross for some sporting fun.
