Garth
Tried to start my car yesterday - last used a week ago and been sitting outside in the rain without a complete cover. Turned over with funny sounds, bit of puffing and intermittent firing - eventually started and is now running fine! Was running fine before left for the week! Only thought was that with all this rain some water may have got through the foam filter - it is not fully exposed, but does sit under the vents!? Is this something I need to be aware of? Thanks
Paul Deslandes
wet electrics most likely. I guess the foam could restrict airflow if it was really wet but, if its oiled (with proper stuff), it shouldn't hold too much water
Birkin S3 ZA.
Yes the foam filter is like a sponge, they can hold quite a bit of water till you try and start. Then it lets it feed into the motor the more you try and rev the more it releases until it gets a bit dryer. Happens a lot when we cross deep rivers on our dirt bikes. Chris. Harry No Sheds Flatters
If it is a K series water can fill up the plug recess in the cylinder head and cause a misfire. I know of a couple of owners who have suffered this after washing their cars and being over enthusiastic with the garden hose
Baz Hemsley
Most likely water down the plug olls.
