Brake lights not working :(

Nigel Meylan

I replaced mine with a significantly more robust model, a Beck/Arnley 2010825. They were cheap, so I bought two. A suitable replacement should be inexpensive and relatively easy to locate if you take your existing one to your local automotive parts maerchant. *wavey*

Nigel doesn't mention the vintage of his car so he may not have a switch on the brake pedal, but if his is an older car he'll have a pressure switch in-line with the brake circuit instead. These can fail reasonably frequently and can be swopped in and out without having to bleed the brakes (if you're quick with the swop...).

Nigel?

...as others has said, don't lose the spring when you take the end cap off. It will attempt to leave with extreme prejudice.

When mine went, one of the contact legs had actually disintegrated - technically I could have folded up a new bit of metal but the (low) cost of a new switch made it not worthwhile.
