Mankee
Doing my rear brakes today and they have been a bit of a git from start to finish. In fact, I've not even finished yet as I need to retrieve my hub pullers to do the last corner of the car. Anyway, the O/S driveshaft nut thread has been helpfully chewed up by someone before I got the car. I've not tried to torque the nut back up yet, but it was FT on removal and I don't fancy running around for very long with damage like this. Is this fixable if I remove the shaft and take/send it somewhere like Reco-Prop? Or have I got to shell out for a complete replacement shaft? Shame to bin them as there's nothing wrong with them as far as I'm aware. http://images14.fotki.com/v380/photos/8/42688/7812053/photo1-vi.jpg
Ian Mackenzie
Hi there I think the stup axle is a standard Ford Sierra part so you may be able to get a replacement and rebuild the drive shaft. Cheers Ian

Birkin S3 ZA.
If it was mine I would recut the threads only removing just enough to get a full clean thread, then make a nut to suit as the stub thread would be a non standard size.
