Sigma wet sump plug

Garth

Recommended Posts

Hi Garth,

I wouldn't recommend doing this. I tried to drill and tap a sump plug for my Sigma engine once and the sump plug wall thickness became very thin so opted not to measure the temperature in this way. We ended up fitting a heat exchanger to our engine and put a temperature sensor in the oil line from the heat exchanger to the engine oil feed. Works a treat!! Oil temperature is up to operating temperature with in four or five miles and oil temp never goes above 100 degrees.

Regards

Thanks SKC - I was planning to try and use the existing sump plug hole/ thread (without modifying it) to fit the sender into, so assume the wall thickness around the existing thread will be robust enough?
