Garth
I want to replace my wet sump plug with an adapter to take a sender unit, but have no idea what size the thread is - can anyone help? - otherwise I will have to take it out! Thanks Garth
SKC
Hi Garth, I wouldn't recommend doing this. I tried to drill and tap a sump plug for my Sigma engine once and the sump plug wall thickness became very thin so opted not to measure the temperature in this way. We ended up fitting a heat exchanger to our engine and put a temperature sensor in the oil line from the heat exchanger to the engine oil feed. Works a treat!! Oil temperature is up to operating temperature with in four or five miles and oil temp never goes above 100 degrees. Regards SKC
Garth
Thanks SKC - I was planning to try and use the existing sump plug hole/ thread (without modifying it) to fit the sender into, so assume the wall thickness around the existing thread will be robust enough? John Vine
Is the Sigma drain plug the same as the R400D? Probably not, but if it is, you could use this. JV Edited by - John Vine on 20 Jul 2013 18:30:
