S7 FUN
Is this easy to do? Can the chrome be sanded and painted? Thanks, guys
Fred
better to try and swap them in for sale . the only way to get a good finnish is to prime with a plastic primer first. this will give the paint a good grip the plastic primer is more flexible .or you can sand blast them this is the only way to get the chrome rough enough to hold the paint. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted November 28, 2002 Leadership Team Share Posted November 28, 2002 I flatted mine with a medium grade emery cloth (400 if I remember correct) then took them to our local powder coaters. £20 job - satin black, although they refer to it as matt. Looks just like the original equipment. No problems so far. Stu.
V7 SLR
I've got some untidy black shells if you want. Cheap. Better email me direct. Worcs L7 club joint AO.//Membership No. 4379//Azure Blue SLR No. 0077//Se7ens List Tours
Gridgway
aren't the factory ones just powder coated on top of the chrome anyway? Graham
V7 SLR
Not the 2 sets I've got, although one of the (lemme see if I can get the right label) headlamp glass retaining rings is powdercoated over chrome. The others aren't. Worcs L7 club joint AO.//Membership No. 4379//Azure Blue SLR No. 0077//Se7ens List Tours
Gridgway
ahh taht explains it, I have seen chrome under the black opn the retaining ring and assumed it was the same for the whole lamp unit. Graham
V7 SLR
It might well be, such is the apparent inconsistency. Actually, being fair to them, the powder coating on my original headlamp bowls is quite good.
