Nicks3
I am trying to connect an led light to the sidelight power from the loom. When I do this the led does not light up. If I attach the same led light to the headlight power from the loom it works fine. Any ideas what is causing this and how I can get the led light to work on the sidelight power? Birkin S3 ZA.
One wire is positive the other negative the LED will only work when connected the right way, and will not work when reversed like a normal globe. Chris.
Stationary M25 Traveller
Yes .... I'd go for polarity too. Doesn't damage it the wrong way, just doesn't work.
Jonathan Kay
As above, but please confirm that you have 12V between where you've connected it and earth. Jonathan
Nicks3
Not sure if its 12v but it lights the normal sidelights no problem.
7TOM
Hi as the other guys have suggested a diode only allows current to flow one way so try reversing the polarity and see if this helps your issue .
Nicks3
I have switched wires around and they still don't work when attached to the sidelight wiring. When attached to the headlight wiring they work. I'm puzzled!!
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted June 29, 2013 Leadership Team Share Posted June 29, 2013 Go back to using the ordinary bulb and make sure it is lit. Then remove it and fit the LED bulb. So far nothing you've said proves that the wiring is actually providing a feed for the bulb. Stu.
Nicks3
Yes it does light the normal bulb. Putting a circuit tester on its its live too.
