Big Bad Baz
My headlight switch no longer lights up when the headlights are on (I am blaming this for my embarrassing flat battery incident last Sunday). Are the bulbs in the rocker switches replaceable, or is it new switch time?
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted June 27, 2013 Area Representative Share Posted June 27, 2013 Fiddly job, but replaceable. Spare bulbs available from Maplins.
Big Bad Baz
Thanks, thought they might be a sealed unit.
jingars
Does anyone have the Maplin part number, as well as a quick overview on how to completely knacker - I mean dismantle and access - the bulb? TIA.
colindavies56
get this super new girlfriend to pick one up from maplins on her way home from work. 😬
Stationary M25 Traveller
Pop the rocker part of the the switch out with a small flat blade screwdriver. Unscrew the bulb with a short piece of screenwash tube. Fit new one in the same way. It is a screw threaded bulb. You want the lower wattage one, or it will get too hot. Will look later. rj
Erhm. On mine the light comes up when I turn on the ignition, not the light. Changing the bulb inside the switch won't change that.
Markiebabes
Anyone know if they can be swapped for Led bulbs ?
jingars
So that's the process covered off, thanks to all. As regards replacement bulbs, if I have the correct item, CC list this beastie at 1.5W. On the Maplin site is it one of these bulbs that is the replacement? The page doesn't list their output in watts... I have a couple of rocker switches that are no longer illuminating and would like to replace the bulbs in them. Stationary M25 Traveller
The 14V BU15R will survive better than the 12V. Go for 0.75 or 0.9W 1.5W will get too hot.
jingars
Will give it a go - thanks for the advice.
