jackb_ms
Hello All I need to check my oil pressure switch, is it just a question a fitting an air line to it at the value I want it to work, connect a multi metre, and bob is my mum's brother? For a K series what should be the value? Cheers Jack
Jonathan Kay
Is this a pressure sensor connected to a gauge or just an on-off thing? Jonathan
jackb_ms
Its a switch connected to a light to tell me there is a problem with the oil pressure. The light was constantly on so I think it is set to low. Or I have a major issue with the lubricating system... Jack
Mankee
If it's just a low pressure warning light switch, that is pretty much it. It will switch to earth below the threshold and illuminate the warning light. The value of the threshold depends on the switch (whether standard at ~5psi or higher for an early warning) and how paranoid you are. In my case, I am very paranoid and have a light flickering at stinking hot idle about 1bar/15psi to warn me of impending engine doom. Or not. jackb_ms
I've put nearly 7litre of the oily stuff so there is some oil inside the engine therefore I presume it the switch which is playing up abit. I just like my piece of mind. Jack PS: the light was on and flickering then stayed on
elie boone
Some are marked on the side at what pressure they work, if not u can test them with a compressor hose but then you need a pretty acurate gauge in the pressure line.
Mankee
Is the light flickering on at idle with the oil pretty cold? How does your oil pressure gauge reading (presuming you have one) look in relation to the light? jackb_ms
At idle is was showing 4bar ( electrical gauge) and hot 2 bar I know I have plenty of oil because when taking the car for a run the catch tank is filling up with oil I have the Think Auto unit which I want to check Jack
