Wile7
I have always loved the Mercedes W124 E500 (a joint collaboration between Porsche and Mercedes back in the early to mid 1990's). I had one for a brief period (a bargain with 330,000 kms on it - still as sweet as a nut and regret getting rid of it even though a good profit was had....). This one: HERE though is the Holy Grail - the E60 AMG made for the Japanese and Swiss markets only - based on the Evolution model with significant tweaks. Bizarrely enough there are two for sale on PH at the moment with conflicting manufacturing output numbers - one HERE says 12 were made, the other 126.....Personally I'd look at the one on display at Mercedes Benz world because one assumes it has full provenance. All a bit hypothetical for me though but oh how I wish... 😬 Also there is a £35K difference in price Either way, in my books this is as good as it gets for an understated high performance saloon. If the E60 is too much then the standard E500 is a stonker.....one also on PH HERE and at £15k that seems rather good value by comparison.... Ho Hum..... Mark Piper
The E 500 seems good value - most have covered intergalactic mileages. The others are at that price where you wonder who'd buy them. You could comfortably buy a CLK63 Black Series for £80k for example - a truly superb car. Or if you want that exclusivity that badly the C55 is a rare car but cheaper. Wile7
So very true......jumping on the classic car boom bandwagon? You certainly bring things into perspective with that comparison Mark. Still, a FSH 500e 'standard' can be had for under £10k with a little searching around.....stonking motor car
Wile7
Could not stretch to a 500E but have stumbled across a rather special car in Switzerland.....a genuine A124 (w124 shape) E320 sportline cabriolet with Rare Getrag dogleg manual gearbox, electric hood, original uprated bilstein suspension, quick(er) rack, ltd slip diff, two sets of 8 hole wider alloys with new summer and winter tyres. Dark grey with magnolia leather. High miles (280k kms) but full Mercedes Dealer history and one owner. Brand new Swiss MOT (Expertise) which is like a 3 year MOT and is quite rigorous. Price. Under £4k. If anyone tells you used cars are expensive in Switzerland don't believe them. There are some bargains to be had....http://www.lotus7.club/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.png
