I want to take it out and charge it, however apart from all the wires that are attached to it there is also a tube. This comes out of the top of the battery and extends to the bottom of the car where it just ends. The question is what the hell does it do and can I just pull this tube out of the top to enable me to remove the battery completely? TonyR Posted November 23, 2002 Share Posted November 23, 2002 Anthony, Its only a breather pipe, just pull it out. You should purchase a battery conditioner and leave connected while in the garage. This will stop you ruining the battery by it constantly losing charge. I bought a Draper one last week from Halfords £15.99.
