N1ck
Seem to go through them at a reasonable rate. Most recent, a double barrelled Michelin, has also just given up the ghost. Any suggestions for a robust unit that is likely to be around longer than 6 months? Nick.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted May 20, 2013 Member Share Posted May 20, 2013 Yes, a double-barrelled Michelin. Jonathan
Support Team Shaun_E Posted May 20, 2013 Support Team Share Posted May 20, 2013 They are all rubbish - I gave up when the last one went in the bin at Anglesey circuit and bought a 12V one powered from a cigarette lighter socket. Done 2 seasons sprinting with it now and it makes life far easier.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted May 20, 2013 Area Representative Share Posted May 20, 2013 I use a double barrelled Michelin, presumably just the model you have just discarded. Mine has seen several years service (but it lives in the garage and I just check the pressure there and rectify as neccesary)
Lotus Boy
Nick, I've given up on barrel foot pumps. Like you I just don't seem to find one that lasts. Having looked on Amazon the ones that get the good reviews are the compressor type that Shaun mentions. I received my Ring Automotive RC610 analogue one last week which I used at the weekend for the first time. So far things are looking great. Seemingly decent screw on valve fitment rather than the lever type - hopefully this means it isn't as breakable. Only thing is, you have to be quick unscrewing it so as to not let too much air escape when taking it off. Cheers David
Michael H
Another for the double-barrel Michelin, I've had mine for over a year and it is still fine (although only used once a week or so). Mike
tbird
I use the single barrel michelin, fits more neatly in the boot, done about 3 years but to be honest tyres don't need topping up that often, are you particularly heavy footed Tim

Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted May 20, 2013 Leadership Team Share Posted May 20, 2013 I've used a number of 12v pumps .... they all fail eventually, binned another last week I also have a Michelin twin barrel footpump which is lasting "okay" although the general construction is not as good as it should be. Might seem a bit daft but the best quality all round pump I've used on the Seven is my bicycle Joe Blow track pump Stu.
TomB
Just bought a twin cylinder for about a fiver from Aldi! TUV approved, worth a shot I reckon
john g
Tom, I purchased the same about 12 months ago. OK for the 7 but once you get to 30 psi it's a bugger to press the thing down!

SUPERLIGHT91
I've not had too much trouble with my double barrel Michelin from Halfords, but the hose does blow off the connector sometimes. Decent cycle Track pump like the Joe Blow has got me out of trouble a couple of times with good effect too.
Fil M
If the pump is for the garage dont forget to consider a cycle stirrup pump. I use one for the 'normal' car and the 7 and it works a treat for adjustments in pressure and top ups. Of course it requires a little physical effort but thats a bonus.
