Phil R
Hi, I'm having problems with my 2002 Vauxhall 1.8 SOHC engined 7 and am looking for some suggestions (other than replacing the engine please!). I noticed a while back that, when stuck in traffic, the fan was cutting in and then refusing to turn itself off until I was moving again. I narrowed this down to the fact that there was no coolant over the switch sensor due to there being an inch or more air in the top of the radiator. So, I raised the front of the car above the level of the heater and undid the bleed. This solved the problem straight away so I went for a nice long drive and congratulated myself on a job well done. Since then I've had to repeat this "bleeding" process (did you see what I did there? ) on a fairly regular basis. Any ideas where the air might be getting into the system? Anyone experienced this before? I've seen many threads about airlocks but I don't recall anything about a recurring problem. Any help would be appreciated, /Phil. Nick Pargiter
Phil, Speak to Caterham Parts, they have a restrictor that goes in the small pipe to the top of the header tank. It worked on a friend's car and he was having the same problem. Nick
