Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted April 23, 2013 Leadership Team Share Posted April 23, 2013 I'm swapping an automatic cam belt tensioner over to the manual version, does anyone have details of the holes that need drilling/tapping or even a suitable template to mark the correct location? I could remove everything from the front of my own engine to take the measurements but seems a lot of work if somebody already has the details! Thanks in advance Stu. Myles
Yep - Oily provided the template shown on my site (above). We (Tom and myself) stupidly didn't believe it and just drilled out the existing auto hole instead. Works fine but required a different belt! Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted April 23, 2013 Author Leadership Team Share Posted April 23, 2013 Thanks Mankee, yes that is actually useful Malcolm, if it's not a problem for you it would be a big help .... I'll bring some tracing paper 😬 Stu.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted April 23, 2013 Author Leadership Team Share Posted April 23, 2013 Those holes are certainly close ... I assume it's wise to plug the original M8 hole to maintain some strength! Stu.
oilyhands
There is no strength problem as the positional holes are full size and the thread holes will be 1.5mm smaller at the core, a large number of heads left the factory drilled for both tensioner s as they were service replacements. I've used that template hundreds of times, accuracy to within. 0.5mm is sufficient. Oily
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted April 23, 2013 Author Leadership Team Share Posted April 23, 2013 Thanks Oily I guess I just need to make up an accurate template! Stu.
