jimh
Does anyone happen to know which brake light switch the CSR260 uses, mine is a 2007 car. I'm not with the car at the moment so can't go and look myself.
jimh
Darren at CC tells me it is this one: Switch - Brakelight - Mechanical Type Part Number : 51470 here
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted April 16, 2013 Area Representative Share Posted April 16, 2013 That standard switch is very unreliable. There's a better mechanical one that will fit from Car Builder Solutions. It's slightly more expensive at £9 inc. VAT but will last longer and be more reliable. See:- STSM on page 13. philmorton
*arrowup* That's the one. I had to chop some of the white plunger off though to get it to fit when I replaced mine. And it is cheap and nasty.
Roger Ford
This one from Redline looks the same as the CBS one, but is somewhat cheaper at £8.18 delivered. Edit: This appears to be a different Redline from the one in Caterham. Edited by - Roger Ford on 16 Apr 2013 17:55:
sjmmarsh
Definitely go for the better quality switch. I bought one 2 years ago and the standard one has behaved itself since then! It is only a matter of time... Steve
jimh
The replacement I got from CC doesn't fit without modification as the white plunger and the threaded body are too long by about 1cm, the original one had been cut down with a hacksaw. I am now ordering one of the better quality ones.
BBL
I bought one of the better quality ones (a Bosch, I believe), and as it was a bit too long, trimmed the plunger. Unlike the original, this one had a hollow plunger with the spring inside, so I had destroyed it, effectively. ☹️ Bought a second one and bent the bracket holding the brake switch instead - job done.
