Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted March 28, 2013 Leadership Team Share Posted March 28, 2013 I'm on the cadge again ....... I need a couple of the small studs and nuts that fit in the bottom of the bearing ladder, the ones that position and secure the oil rail prior to fitting the through bolts (head bolts). Anyone have a couple available from an old engine? 😬 I can't understand why they're missing, although the engine was previously fitted with a dry sump and they may have been mistakenly removed with the windage plate. Or is there a feasible alternative? Stu.
Englishmaninwales
One of my engines ran without any nuts fixing the oil rail. I only found out when I removed the cylinder head and the oil rail clattered into the sump They had been removed at some point when the DS was fitted Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 28 Mar 2013 19:28:
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted March 28, 2013 Author Leadership Team Share Posted March 28, 2013 Touche! I found out with the engine on the stand without a sump fitted ... I didn't even think to check whether they were there 😔 Stu.
Mankee
Ah, I wish I saw this earlier, as I removed the very same studs from one of my spare blocks this afternoon. I do have yet another spare block with these studs and nuts in them you can have. I won't be able to get to them until next week at the earliest though. Edited by - Mankee on 28 Mar 2013 23:41:
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted March 29, 2013 Author Leadership Team Share Posted March 29, 2013 Thanks Mankee, let me know if you manage to get them out  Stu.
rj
I guess they aren't that critical as the "top" bolts will hold the rail in place. Won't they just be excess weight?
Englishmaninwales
Quoting RJ: I guess they aren't that critical as the "top" bolts will hold the rail in place. Won't they just be excess weight?  I agree, but a pain if you dont fit them and wish to remove the cylinder head
Mankee
If you get some sorted out in the mean time, Stu, post up, otherwise, I'll remove them as soon as possible. They aren't fitted particularly tightly and I'll be able to whip them out in a couple minutes using the "two-nuts" method. Famous last words... Mankee
I've got the studs and nuts in my possession now if you still need them. Drop me a line with your address (again) and I'll launch them in the post as soon as I can.
