Fitted Garages

Recommended Posts

For the last 35 years I've been putting up with working in cold, damp, untidy garages and keeping my tools in an ever expanding collection of mismatched boxes.

Although small, my present garage is weather proof but shared with rubbish, paint tins, the bloody cat - which can't live much longer please God and a collection of footwear. I am currently doing work with an World Rally Car engine builder where you could have open heart sugery on any of their engine benches and I has made me deeply dissatisfied.

I owe it to myself to clear the lot out and have a proper fitted set of tool drawers, work top, racks and lights. I think I saw a specialist company at the Motor Sport show last year that sold the component parts but can't find them on the web.

Has anybody out there indulged themselves in this way and can recommend a supply company?

Tony.

Distressing ain't it.

I now have a garage that really is only 400mm wider than the Seven itself.

Bl%dy hard work just getting around the car !

I do a bit better in the length dept (ooh err missus) with about 1200mm clear.

Cold, damp, yuk.

That's why she's tucked away in the CarCoon right now.

Must be really fantastic to have those kind of facilities. Dream..............

Yup I looked at the 'reassuringly expensive' fitted garge furniture, and then went down Ikea and bought two 800mm base units with beech doors and a 38mm 3m worktop from B&Q warehouse. Total cost, a ton !

More than strong enough to stick the engine on, and once bolted to the wall and the adjustable legs set, totally solid.

Bargin *cool*

Alicat

What did the 2 pack floor come out like? Can you put it over a floor painted with ordinary floor paint?

I did mine with single pack floor paint a while ago and although it looks ok its not too good where the jack rolls across it.

I will show you my garage if you show me yours!

Carpet tiles !

Got a job lot of carpet tiles when the office was being refurbished. Also nice and warm when you're lying on the floor under the car!

Neighbours looked at me a bit funny when I was hoovering out the garage prior to the kit being delivered.

Nasty brown colour, but hey, they were free.
