Bradders
I stupidly ordered white Sikaflex 291 to do the front wings Not sure if that is going to be seen under the wings. If it is, is it possible to paint over it with say hammerite? Ta Bradders
elie boone
Yes you can paint it after it's fully hard, apply temp must be higher than 4°C !!
Leadership Team Garry7 Posted March 11, 2013 Leadership Team Share Posted March 11, 2013 You wont be able to see it once the wheels are fitted!!

Stationary M25 Traveller
as they are both black and white, it won't matter which colour you use 😬

Grubbster
If it really is 291 then in my experience it won't stick thet well as it is a sealant, 292 is the proper stuff. I only bonded on bigheads though, so if your doing the wing to wing stay directly then the contact area might be sufficient. As for it being white just a quick squirt of satin black paint will sort that.
Leadership Team Garry7 Posted March 12, 2013 Leadership Team Share Posted March 12, 2013 I used 291 on big head rip tie fittings, still rock solid after 9 months and 5500 miles 😬
Ivaan
You would need 292 if the wings are ABS plastic.
Bradders
Well I'll use the 291, as opinion seems to be divided. It has the same description as Terostat 92 which I believe CC use, as an "adhesive sealent" If one comes off it'll be a good excuse to get carbon set instead
Bradders
Having said that, looked at the tech specs on the two. 252 has a tensile strength of 600 PSI and 291i has 260 PSI. I have some sealing to do of some double glazing so I'll use the 291i for that (seeing as its white) and order up some of the 252 for the wings. Stationary M25 Traveller
I used black 221 for my front wings. Very cheap on eBay. Think you could probably lift the car by them !

The first time the wings got wet the sika just peeled off the underside of the wing - same wings and fittings then stayed firmly stuck for years with 292. Maybe I had a dodgy tube of 291? On my new wings (on both cars) I've used BigHead FS Acrylic, seems even better than 292 and sets in minutes!
