k.russell
how much oil do you have in your gearbox ?, have filled gearbox with oil, out of the car, with the top plate off. I was told by SP to fill only untill i can only just feel with little finger throught filler/drain plug on side. SP said that it is not good to overfill as the box runs hotter. filling like this equates to 1.3L which is similar to suggestions in the archives. interested if anyone has any other info. colindavies56
there are 2 types of type9 box's, if its pre 88 it holds 1.9 ltrs, if its post 88 it holds 1.2 ltrs, pre 88 the filler nut is roughly 1/2 way up the box,and post 88 the nut is much lower. my 2010 roadsport came with a pre 88 box. hope all this helps. 7 wonders of the world
There are at least 3 different level plug heights over the years many boxes have all 3 marked on the side, so the factory could choose the plug height depending on application. All boxes benefit from running with 1.2 ltrs of GL4 spec oil, personally I've found Redline MTL makes a sweet shift.
