johnv
Does anyone tow their 7 on a say, Brian James Minno with a Golf or similar sized car? Is it legal/safe? thanks
rgrigsby
I don't personally but I've seen quite a few towed with Golf/Astra sized cars before, I can't see it's a problem with a braked trailer.
peterg
I used to tow my Westfield and then later on my single seater with a Golf mk5 (2.0tdi with DSG box) on a PRG Sport trailer with tyre rack, not only is it legal and safe, most of the time you barely knew it was there... johnv
that's great, thanks .. I have DSG also, so that's good to hear!
rj
I can look up the tow capacity of your car if you BM me the details. I would be surprised if you could not tow a Seven on a small trailer after almost any Golf. If it's a Bluemotion there can be issues that need to be storted though. johnv
this one.. features a 2.0 litre turbocharged inline 4-cylinder petrol engine with Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) direct-injection technology, which produces 200PS (147 kW/197 bhp). it's 2007 Edited by - johnv on 5 Feb 2013 14:53:
andy_h
You may struggle on hills as its a turbo. I use to have a 1.8 turbo 180bhp Skoda VRs and towing was ok except hills as not enough power until turbo spins up. Pulling away from junctions on a hill was slow and may burn the clutch a bit. Fishy Dave
I tow with a Celica with no problem, so I would have thought a Golf would be equally capable, especially a decent petrol or TD. here I had the trailer downplated just in case of some sort of legal issue (1200kg gross from 1300kg) Edited by - Fishy Dave on 5 Feb 2013 15:40:
