Stationary M25 Traveller
Helping Vikram swap alternator from a Magneti Marelli to a Bosch The original had a terminal post for the smaller wire. The new one has a two pin plug with pins labelled 1 and 2. Question ... does the cable go to pin 1 or 2 ? Think it would be to the equivalent of pin D+ ... .. Thanks in advance. Stationary M25 Traveller
Thanks Elie. All the evidence suggested no. 1. Unfortunately the body of the alternator fouled no. 1 primary, so no good. Vik will be looking for an EU2 alternator and be selling the EU3
Martin J
Could the old one be repaired by an auto electrician Ian? Our Isuzu engined astra diesel alternator packed up some years ago. It was a complex thing with the brake pump built onto the end & an exchange unit was hundreds from vauxhall. My tame mechanic removed it & took it to an auto electrician who fitted a new diode pack for a fraction of the price. OK mine hadn't been fried like Vikram's 😳 but it may be possible. Stationary M25 Traveller
That is one of the lines of enquiry for him tomorrow or Monday. There isn't a lot of space under the bonnet of an S3 is there ??

Martin J
Having driven Steve's SV it makes an interesting comparison with my "fits like a glove S3" The one thing I would like on mine would be somewhere to easily rest my clutch foot, it's just a bit to cramped for my size 10.5's
