David Brown
Replacing front balljoint boots but the nyloc nut tightens before the taper has caught on the upright. Looks like I either drop the car down onto its wheels again or tighten with a normal nut and then replace with nyloc - but what is the thread size? Or is there another way? Stationary M25 Traveller
Do you mean the outer end of the top wishbone or the steering track rod ends ? Bit of grease on the taper helps it stick then stand on the wishbone. Does the trick for me
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted January 3, 2013 Area Representative Share Posted January 3, 2013 Put car on its wheels then stand on balljoint to force into upright as you tighten. Alternatively you could try using a small ratchet strap to pull the balljoint into the upright whilst you tighten.
tin duck dave
Check the top of the threaded ends , some hava a hex recess so you can hold it with an allen key while tightening nut down with ring spanner
