diggerman
....... An iPad? Does anyone know if software exists to use an iPad instead of the conventional laptop? Peter
Member Jonathan Kay Posted December 28, 2012 Member Share Posted December 28, 2012 How close is SpeedPORT to what you want? I think someone here once discussed writing something for Android but I can't find it. Can anyone tell me about software for programming ECUs? Is it different for every make or is there something like a standard/ language/ framework/ API whatever? gundersen
I have used Torque to read ODB 2 information, it is actually quite good. But it's for Android, so I suspect its not of much use to you

Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 28 Dec 2012 22:23:46 I'd hazard a guess at jt being proprietary, as I'm not aware of any generic mapping tools, but I could be wrong. I know they don't even use common terms, so the chance of a common API is pretty remote.
diggerman
The Speedport App looks like just the thing but seems to be very specific to certain cars. My aim would be software that is Caterham and ipad friendly. On a slightly different subject it would be really interesting to have some specific training on engine management systems and access thereto. Does anyone know if he club has ever, will ever do this? Johnty Lyons
Theres a Haynes manual on ECUs written by our very own Dave Walker of Emerald, should do the job of getting you started down the understanding road
