Sheds Moderator
I have fitted my sidescreens but I now need to fit the press studs to the screens. Does anyone know where I can get a tool to attach them? Inevitably one failed to come with the kit from caterham, nor did they mention it... andycox
When I did my tourneau cover I had a similar issue. I got one from Caterham which cost very little if I remember correctly. Is it SUMMER yet? 😬
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted November 7, 2002 Leadership Team Share Posted November 7, 2002 Drill a small hole in the vinyl, then push popper top through. Fit popper female section, then with the popper top against a piece of wood (with a rag in between if you need extra protection) firmly splay the copper tube using a hammer and a phillips screwdriver - this will spread the tube into 4 sections. The job can then be finished with a small punch. There is a special tool available, but I've been doing it this way for years and have rarely had any come apart. Stu. MikeW
Think the tool is about £6 from Caterham and it will save a lot of messing about MikeW W89 TVV Car no

Sheds Moderator
Thanks gents - I will try the phillips screwdriver approach first and see what happens. I have around a million poppers so I can afford to wreck a few. As for using a rag for extra protection if required, I usually find it wise to use protection in any dealings with female sections. Jason Plato
You can get a tool for doing the poppers from your local craft / sewing shop . Ithe one I have looks like a pair of pliers , dead easy to use . Dave
Sheds Moderator
Thanks gents - Stu, your phillips screwdriver trick works a treat. I really didn't believe the rivet would split, buut it does, and it's very straightforward. ' course I can't get the top popper to fasten because the seat is in the way . Never mind - one will do on the drivers side.
