I bought the car around 16 months ago after it had a full chassis up rebuild, including full powder coating of chassis and re skinning by Arch and all suspension components powder coated. Since then it's had a new clutch, starter/solenoid, alternator and been flat-floored by Hyperion.

Pictures of the rebuild and head modifications car are here

It's not taxed at the moment but has around 9 months MOT IIRC.

Selling as I need an all-round car that I can use everyday.

Offers around £14,500

Yikes Have prices dropped that much 🤔 After my accident I used Caterham website for a source of prices and managed to get the insurance company to give me 16k for an R reg 1.6 K SS with similar spec to yours except the engine was std, it had Tillets, R500 wheels and an aeroscreen. (and minor differences like carbon front wings and 6 point belts but a std rad etc). Althought the engine was untouched the dampers/springs were new. So all in all it should have been pretty similar....

Or is the difference mainly due to the margin Caterham make when they sell s/h 🤔

*confused*

I just took a stab in the dark at the price !

Maybe it's too cheap and I should ask more ? I just need to sell it quick and thought that I'd price it at what I needed. Unfortunately I've had no interest in the car whatsoever which I really don't understand

☹️

I just didn't have the time or inclination to look after bare ali. I think everyone that has a bare ali car must be either insane or have far too much time on their hands !! *wink*

Had next to no interest which I'm attributing, correctly I hope, to it being too close to Christmas

Andy,

Market is terrible at this time of year, try and hang on to it a bit longer if you can.

To give you an idea I sold my 1.6SS with TB's, 1998 (S) less miles etc etc in Feb 2002 for £13k!! *eek*

Come the spring I could have added £1500

Bugger.

Nick,

No worries *thumbup*.. I don't "need" to sell it in a hurry though it pains me to see the car sat around not being used ☹️

Though of course I am missing out on the bargains that seem to be around with people in the same boat desperately trying to sell the cars I may want !!
