weeman
I'm looking for a cheap and cheerful Satnav. Not concerned about what make, functions or the latest mapping....so long as it works and will accept a U.K postcode as a destination. It would be useful if it came with a windscreen mount and a 12v lead. Thanks in advance.

weeman
no Jonathan, my cellphone is the windup type. Ian, I actually met a punter last night who lived in Sinfold West Sussex, when we arrived to within 5miles he decided he didn't know the way to his house, which was the size of a small village BTW. A satnav in London would be as useful as a chocolate firegaurd, but it would be handy in the sticks. That looks a useful site T7 Edited by - weeman on 12 Oct 2012 19:21:
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 12, 2012 Member Share Posted October 12, 2012 Quoting weeman: no Jonathan, my cellphone is the windup type.Well, that makes a perfect opportunity... here's what I would do: * Buy an iPhone and sell the steam 'phone * Buy a good mount and a charger lead * Install NavFree on the iPhone There's a discussion in the archives about what functionality you don't get with this set-up, but it's what I use routinely. weeman
Interesting thoughts Jonathan but it's not the cheap option that I was looking for. I like having an older type cellphone rather than a pocket PC. I already spend way too much time on my laptop with out having t'internet in my pocket. Having looked on the site that T7 recommended I now realise just how cheap one can buy a, less 'well specced' satnav. Cheers
