cskip
Can someone educate me on the differences between the fixing points on a Live Axle and Dedion rollcage? Is it just that the fixing points at the rear of the cage are different? I am assuming that a Dedion cage cannot be fitted to a Live Axle car? CaterBram
I'm reliably informed that a dedion cage won't fit a live axle, just in the same way that a de-dion roll bar won't fit a live axle. It's all about the mounting points over the suspension.
jonboylaw
Live axle cage has a flat rear mounting plate that bolts to the top of the turret. I believe the dedion one protrudes down into the turret. I am sure you could modify either to get them working.
Tyrone
I think the front mounting might be different too. I have an early de dion which looks to all the world like a live axle until you get down on yours knees and look under the car. My car has the 'shoulders' under each end of the dash. When the cage was fitted it was bolted to these shoulders. I don't 'think' the de dion cages do that.
elie boone
It's not too much work to convert a DD cage for use on a live axle, you need to make a U bracket for the rear dampers ( the original dampers can't be used ) grind away the edge for the old damper mount on the "turret" and use the hole to weld the bracket for the damper cut the parts that normally go into the DD chasis and weld a flat plate to it bent the rear facing tubes, make them longer and fit the correct mounting. The front part of the cage fitted without any problem
