BS airbox with hot k.

hi all

 

i'm going to drop my 1.9 scholar/DVA engine in my car, and i would like to know if the std BS airbox (caterham air filter) will be good for it.

 

i bought the airbox last year, but i don't know if it's the later type or not.

 

engine specs are :

1.9 bore

1444 cams

dva VHPD head

big(gest?) valves

dth jenveys

r500 injectors

powerspeed exhaust (decat)

The later 80mm inlet box is OK but the earlier 63mm(??) inlet is not. The later box also has more volume.

I ran an early box on my 247bhp k, it made more power with the box as a result of reflective pulse. I did however enlarge the inlet to 100mm and used a large k&n cone filter .

DVA ported VHPD head and valves, Scholar 1800 with standard VHPD cams, 421 exhaust, 90mm trumpets on Emerald's RR, back to back test:

Early BS 213 bhp 153 lbft

Later BS 220 bhp 160 lbft
