Mankee
Hello! I'm making up a flylead for my crank sensor, which was previously fixed on with a butchered crank sensor plug and a cable wrapped around it! It was secure, but I'd rather fit a proper plug and keep a spare crank sensor with me in my spares box. If you have a butchered old Rover loom then a used plug with a few inches of wire would be handy. Or maybe you have a few spares from a rewire? They are cheap enough to buy new but the postage from the usual wiring places bumps the cost right up. ☹️ Basically, I need one of these: http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/ESC2F-400.jpg to fit one of these: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/ItemImages/Large/NSC100760.jpg Ta. Phil G
Hi Mankee, I think I have one but need to pop to my lock-up (guv) to check. Give me an hour.
Phil G
Sorry, no luck. I have pins and green seal but no body or internal plate. You can have these parts if you are able to cannibalise an existing socket donated by someone else. I also have the proper crimp tool which you are welcome to borrow. Mankee
Hi Phil, thanks for taking a look for me. I also have pins and seals but no plug. Doh! Think a scrap yard hunt is on the cards over the next few days.
LesG
Mankee; I had to source the same plug for my fuel pump when I converted to injection, only the other way round (the male bit like on your crank sensor). Pretty sure I scavenged it from the windscreen washer off of a Rover 214. If I spot one on my travels (in and out of various garage workshops every day) I'll snip and post! Mankee
Hi Les, good effort! I forgot that probably used Econoseal connectors on loads of their cars and various parts. When/if I get a plug sorted out, then I'll update this thread. Cheers.
Paul Deslandes
It looks very similar to the one used on the fuel pump impact cut out switch. You can get them new from the Durite catalogue, part number 0-012-52. Mine came from SED Electric in Guildford. Not close to you but I dare say your local motor electric supplier will have/can get them. Page 4.6 here. Mankee
Thanks for the help everyone. I am now sorted, having cut off a crank sensor plug from an 8v K-series Rover and the rear ABS wiring from a Saxo VTS at the breakers yard to make up a better flylead. Well, I will do once I work out what pins do what, as the original plug fits on both ways. http://images56.fotki.com/v1602/photos/8/42688/7812053/photo-vi.jpg
