Stu_I
went to top up the oil and seems I may have over-tightened the engine cap last time around. Before I apply a bit of force, I can remember if it's clockwise or anti-clockwise to remove. Anyone who has a K-series (1.8VVC) able to verify before I over tighten it more? Which way ? Clockwise. Done it. Release pipe - still a fountain. The other clockwise !!!!

Member Jonathan Kay Posted September 9, 2012 Member Share Posted September 9, 2012 While preparing some bikes for Saturday's ride for the Historic Churches Trust I had to fit crank shorteners on a tandem while it was still hanging on the wall. So that's one reversal of direction because it's a LH crank, and then another because I'm working on the wrong side of the bike... and it's a steel bolt into an alloy crank... I think I'll just check again. Jonathan

Mankee
The other half remembers "right" because she writes with her right hand. Of course, this gets buggered up if you are left-handed or ambidextrous...
Stu_I
ian... what have you started! 😬 I was hoping this would be a subtle thread that would be forgotten about in a day and been on the 2nd page of techtalk!!
Stationary M25 Traveller
Looks like you are going to be reminded for a while yet !! At least you didn't ask about the '710 cap' on the top of the engine 😬
