The motherboard of that PC only supports 512MB SIMMS.

Memory capacities 128-, 256-, or 512-MB

But it also says it has two slots and can take a maximum of 2GB RAM. I assume the "memory capacities" refers to originally-supplied memory configurations.

In DDR memory I've only got a 256MB and a 512MB which is marked as "probably faulty".

I'm guessing, but it may mean that it can use double sided 1GB SIMMS, but not single-sided. i.e. 512MB per side.

Searching the net, there's a lot of people that have added 2 x 1GB SIMMS, only for the PC to show just 1 GB.

/EDIT The 512MB limit is per rank, not per SIMM. 2Rx8 memory is two ranks, but it could be double or single sided, although I believe that all double sided memory is 2R.

i.e. You need 2Rx8, non-ECC 1GB SIMMS.
