LazerBrain Posted September 9, 2012 Share Posted September 9, 2012 I'm reconditioning my parents' Dell Dimension 2400 PC and wondered if anyone had any spare 1GB PC2700 SDRAM that they don't have a use for? I assume the "memory capacities" refers to originally-supplied memory configurations. In DDR memory I've only got a 256MB and a 512MB which is marked as "probably faulty". I'm guessing, but it may mean that it can use double sided 1GB SIMMS, but not single-sided. i.e. 512MB per side. Searching the net, there's a lot of people that have added 2 x 1GB SIMMS, only for the PC to show just 1 GB. /EDIT The 512MB limit is per rank, not per SIMM. 2Rx8 memory is two ranks, but it could be double or single sided, although I believe that all double sided memory is 2R. i.e. You need 2Rx8, non-ECC 1GB SIMMS.
