Graham King
Am replacing a leaking rear shock absorber on sons fiesta. Have got it off the car but am struggling to dismantle it so that we can transfer the spring onto new shock absorber, specifically I can't remove the top collar. Is it just a case of hitting the top to break the interference fit on the old shock or is there a trick to this I am missing? Any advice appreciated. Thanks. Graham. charlie_pank
You have compressed the spring, right?
mic
Is there a wire circlip on the shaft?
Graham King
Charlie/Mic, many thanks for the advice, now sorted. Mixture of both, we were compresing the springs, but doing it further revealed a little wire circlip, removed it and the top collar slid off nicely. New shock now on. Thanks again. Graham.
