spiderlane
I asked a similar question here -> http://blatchat.com/t.asp?id=201545, so I'd be very interested in what options are available.
Dickie Normuss
I was thinking of an electrical one connected to a big orange light on the dash.
Mike Biddle
Would an optical sensor work with all that oil splashing in from the return line, oil mist flying around etc? float switch placed at a level that would give ample warning of impending doom might be a better bet Edited by - Mike Biddle on 26 Aug 2012 16:41:
Area Representative Richard Price Posted August 26, 2012 Area Representative Share Posted August 26, 2012 I think any sort of optical device would be a complete non starter. There's a lot of oil plashing around in the DS tank when the engine is running, and would have to be completely dry to give any warning (by which time it's way too late...) Again, there is too much movement inside a DS tank for any type of float switch to produce a reliable signal. It's possible that an ultrasonic device may work, but fitting such a device would be completely impractical. 'sorry, but I don't think its a workable idea.
