philwaters
Sorting the garage out a bit - vain attempt, but you know how it is - and I have a standard steering rack to suit a flared car going spare. Say £30. Mail me if interested. Phil Waters You mean you can drive these? I thought it was just there to polish 😬
scooby dooby doo
I now know how to convert this to a quick rack. I'm not sure if a new rack bar is required (120 quid) but a 40 quid pinion and a few quids worth of dust plate and 2 pins are. details and pics will be posted soon... philwaters
Thanks Hoopy, but this isn't the Aluminium body type, but the older standard type.. not sure these can be converted. It is, however, cheap at only £30 😬 (Oh, and I should have the mounting blocks to go with it - somewhere.) Phil Waters You mean you can drive these? scooby dooby doo
ah, ooh.... Is that a metro rack, or the even older mk 2 escort rack 🤔 or something else entirely 🤔 (sorry if I'm taking this away from the subject - let me know and I'll go away HOOPY Membership Number 4136 R706KGU
philwaters
Hoopy, your taking the subject away but keeping me near the top Erm... I think it was still made for Caterham, but just the previous design to the current ones - hence it is 0% and not the now standard 8% or uprated 22%... IYSWIM. The previous one to this I think was a modified Triumph rack (I stress the 'think' bit) and this mostly just involved fitting some clips to limit the travel - so I'm told anyway... CHRIS CLARK
Phil. I think this is a Mini rack. I too have one of these complete with mounting blocks and U/J as I uprated to a 22% one!
Big Brother
Phil is correct - the model before his was originaly from a Triumph Herald and was modified/manufactured first by Lotus and later by Caterham. This was replaced in mid 1983 by a Mini derived unit and again later with a Caterham branded version AFAIK. Steve Se7en-Up! Less is more!
