en6jwrs
Not sure if this is a "technical question"! My 3 (nearly 4) year old daughter is very keen to go on a ride with me in my caterham. Despite looking I can't find any definitive information as to the legality of this. Can anyone help? She is average height and weight for a 4 year old and my car has tilletts and screen (if this makes any difference). Thanks in advance.
Roadsport06
It is fine, you'll need a suitable booster seat though, for the tillets I understand a volvo one is needed. (Do a search on here). Just as important is ear defenders as ear damage is easy.
mav
There is no difference in taking her out in the 7 to taking her out in the tin top. She must be properly accommodated, just like in the tin top. Have a search in both chit chat and tech talk, plenty there about child seats that fit tilletes etc
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 12, 2012 Member Share Posted August 12, 2012 DirectGov on child seats etc: official site BBC article on children in seats Website I've never seen before on the subject, looks quite helpful Jonathan
DougBaker
When my son was about that age I needed to cover the quick release on the seat belt to stop him playing with it. With leather seats in an SV I had no problem with getting a Child seat in.
en6jwrs
Thanks all - not quite sure what I googled last night - but didn't find the useful information provided. I am guessing that "a couple of old pillows" is not a legal booster cushion? I will look out for the Volvo one. Thanks again
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 12, 2012 Member Share Posted August 12, 2012 DirectGov is now working quite well, and it's worth adding it to search terms to find the official stuff. Jonathan
en6jwrs
Thanks again. Just found and read the Volvo thread. The cushion from halfords looks ideal. Good idea with the ear defenders. Thanks again - off for a Sunday morning drive (on my own!)
Eugene
My daughter - now 18 - has been going out in Eugene since she was 3... As posted, we just used a booster seat. She loves (still!) going out in the 7, especially if it means we are going to watch racing somewhere!! 😬 😬 😬
