jackb_ms
How do you fit it back onto the car? I wanted to replace the front spring this evening, the driver side damper was remove with out to much problem and refitted with no issue. The near side unit doesn't want to go back on the car. I have attached it loosely at the top and I cannot insert the bottom bolt back in. Is there a special trick? What solution have you used? Cheers Jack
sjmmarsh
It sounds like the damper isn't aligned with the wishbone, so the bolt won't go in properly. I presume the damper is a tight fit in the lower wishbone? If so, try taking it out and checking there isn't any grit or anything that is stopping the damper locating properly.  If that doesn't work then you may need to get a persuader out - basically a length of wood that you place on the damper and then hit the other end with a mallet... Gentle taps at first, checking to see if it is aligned properly, getting progressively harder if it isn't moving! Steve
jackb_ms
Well a lot of swearing and shouting at the damper and some gentle persuasion made the damper fit 😬 I am pretty glad I changed the spring as it looks like the old one where getting tired... Jack
