Charlies Angel
Thanks for that Nigel. Chris is away at the moment. They didnt say that he needed a screen when he enquired about running in B2. We definitely wont have a windscreen! I am sure that if someone picks it up they will just move him to non road going on the day. It's too late now Lynn
skydragon
Lynn, I can confirm that you definately need a full size glass windscreen (just aeroscreen is not allowed for 2A/2B) to compete in Class 2B at harewood. When I competed there earlier this month, i couldn't be 🙆🏻 to take my aeroscreen off and fit my windscreen, so I ended up entering in class 3G for the weekend (Modified Specialist Cars over 1700c) running alongside slick-shod cars As you say, I'm sure they will move him into the correct class on the day. It seems to be a "Northern" thing Indeed and it's a pain, because it means a aero'd superlight can't enter in a road going class with list 1b tyres class and has to enter in a Modified class where slicks are permitted. I don't see the point myself, but there is little point arguing against it...cos it's the rules Edited by - skydragon on 27 Jul 2012 15:36:
skydragon
Great Another excuse... I didn't win at my last hillclimb event, because I ended up having to enter in class 3G for the weekend (Modified Specialist Cars over 1700c) running alongside slick-shod cars, when I only had list 1b's
CaterBram
Of Course Chris could have registered for the Championship and come and play with the rest of class 4 but then maybe the rest of Class 4 or jus Lynn 😳 have bribed him to compete elsewhere so they get better scores Chris is the current Class record holder and which is 1.3secs below the recorded PB of anyone else with class 4. 😬
skydragon
Ahem...yea, Chris H-H really looking forward to seeing you...but suggest you play in class 3G 😬 Class 4 is hard enough without your added influence 😬 😬
CaterBram
LOL at the end of the day its all relative 😬
Stuart Miller 7
and of course that record was on hot tyres and is quicker than the class 5 record, so I doubt it will be beaten for some considerable time (if ever) No really, be nice to see Chris next weekend - another competitor (whether entered or not) is always good. And if it's a nice hot day and Chris runs after Lyn, then he may not need the slicks to compete against the slick shod boys. stuart
Charlies Angel
That seems to imply that if a car is 1.3 seconds quicker than any other car in its class this can not be achieved fairly? Sometimes people just do remarkable runs, without any assistance from me. I was lucky enough to watch Paul Foster's run at Llys Y Fran when he beat all comers and smashed Chris's previous record. He did have hot tyres though, as the sun was out. I am sure that someone will beat Chris's Harewood record one sunny day. As all Olympian's will tell you everything has to be right on the day. (If I had persuaded Chris not to join the championship so that I would get better points this would seem to have backfired on me, as I think my Edward Lewis points show!).................I'm off to find a windscreen and some tyre blankets..............oh and maybe a roof and some doors as the forecast now looks iffy. david nelson
Each year I am amazed that record times are set. It often not my small amounts. How does this happen. Some records you expect to go (class 3 Curbs) a 58.?? Other are quit surprising like my Harewood last year. Why on that day did I go so much faster than I have ever been up the hill? I wish I new as it would be handy- for next week. Richard at Loton and Mark at llys y fran took year out of the old times. Why have I got the Llandow record I was not even trying on the day. so what is the answer? I have no idea it just happens some on cool days some on hot days. so if you know the answer to how to set records please feel free to email me. CaterBram
Lyn, Appologies if i've offended, After Chris's great runs in previous year's I was not seriously implying that you had persuaded Chris not to complete in the championship or in another class , or that it was unfair in how he held the record. My comment was meant as a bit of light hearted banter. Different conditions are perfect for different drivers and I wish that I had a fraction of the skill and panache in driving of either Chris or Yourself. Stuart Miller 7
and apologies from me too! My post was also meant to be a little tongue in cheek and a little bit of banter, hence the wavey smiley face at the end.... Sorry if it was taken the wrong way. Certainly no slight on anyone's driving ability - especially one with great driving ability. It was more of a reference to my little toy out of pram moment at last year's Harewood (which I promise I won't repeat). If I remember correctly, Mr Nelson kicked my 🙆🏻 on tyres the same temp as mine and with 50bhp less! See you all there next weekend for the weekends entertainment, not to mention some friendly banter. Stuart Miller 7
Thanks David - I was rather hoping that my newer (Gurston) tyres would give me that small advantage required to beat class 3 See you there Stuart

David Lynch
So does Class One . I see there are three who have dropped next to nothing and Rob Jacob's absence this weekend could (should) bring Paul Boston and Lightning Eldred closer (Rob will want to lose his Llys-y-Fran score soon). Plenty of others capable of scoring high ninety's who'll fancy a go We'll see after the morning session if I class myself as one of them

Charlies Angel
😳Obviously I sounded even grumpier than I was! You know I have no sense of humour. Last year at Harewood was the only time I have ever stuck my neck out and insisted that Gill and I were not going to be disadvantaged by the running order. The clerk of the course's decission just upset everyone else But Gill and I were happy Chris B, you were not to know that you were entering a Class 4 minefield! As Gill says, Class 4 looks interesting for the weekend, I think that I had better see if I can borrow some shoes from Hussain Bolt.
