David Ward
Tempting , eh Jerry! Last time I showed an advert for something like this to my wife she said it was fortunate that it had sleeping accomodation because that would indeed be where I would be sleeping, were I to buy it ❗
rocky
Hi Barry The truck is an 88 on an F its has 600k Kms (about average for year). Its in good condition Loading is via a 2 ton cantilever extended lift . One car behind the other. We've run two Caterhams with it this year but need to sell it due to expansion. Incidentally i weighed it recently with both cars and all the kit and it came in at 7040kg .Ive also found out that you could take 3 cars by towing a trailer as long as the whole rig is under 8500kg Mark
barry.h
Mark, Am I correct in thinking that under 7.5 tonne no HGV licence is required? Is road tax the same as a car as well? Finally is it RHD or LHD? Cheers, Barry

rocky
Barry As long as you have whats endearingly know as a grandad licence. I'm not sure when the change was .Mid ninetys i think If your not sure you can check your licence. It should say C1+E The Truck is RHD Mark
rocky
Oh yea Its Taxed as a private HGV (about the same price as a car) Mark
Silver 21
Barry Just got back from a wet few days in Yorkshire but in answer to your question you do not need an HGV licence to drive this (I know you are young but not that young ) From days when I held an HGV operators licence I think you have to clearly state on the cab 'Not for Hire & Reward' to avoid applying for an 'O' licence in other words its for your own personal use. Again if I remember correctly the truck will need plating each year(equivilant to an MOT but I think this has to be done at an HGV test centre) Is this so you can compete in two seperate classes at the same event????, or are you offering to take other peoples cars to events. So far now on its Barry 2 Caterhams 1 Truck, perhaps you could race the truck as well 😬 Graham The not so New Competition Secretary, in fact already jaded 1700 Live Axle X/Flow, new pb at Curb, Loton Park and Shelsley Walsh in 2002
barry.h
Mark, My friends(?) seem to have worked hard to keep this item at the top for you!! Unfortunately my measuring tape tells me that I can't get a 7.5 tonner to fit in the entrance to my drive so my truck racing days are ended before they started. A shame because having somewhere dry to sit at sprints and hillclimbs seemed like a good idea. Cheers, Barry
Steve Day
Barry I'm sooo disappointed...I was looking forward to sharing the lift! I reckon a bit of tree surgery would sort the entrance out...and I've got an excellent chain saw! 😬 never mind...back to the horse box eh? cheers Steve
jerrypike
david very tempting, cheaper than tow bar and trailer for the audi will give careful consideration when choosing somewnere else to live (same reason as a few others!) mark any clue as to running costs? jerry
rocky
Jerry Just back from Brands Your Quite right the initial outlay is fairly reasonable compared to a Dastle But to be honest the running costs are a bit higher. The main things are fuel econamy (av 18mpg) and the cost of the plate (mot) budget between one and five hundred quid to get a specialist to take it in and do any work necessary. Thanks for keeping this at the top guys Mark
