Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted July 17, 2012 Leadership Team Share Posted July 17, 2012 Does anyone know what lengths of braided hose and what fittings would be needed to convert the solid rear brake lines to braided? I'd prefer to get hoses made up with a plastic protective sheath rather than using the plain SS braids which I'm sure will destoy the dedion tube in time! Stu. Ah now you tell me I fitted SS braided lines to my de dion 10yrs ago and had to replace it around 5 yrs ago with broken shocker mounts If I'd known the problem was caused by the Damn braided lines I'd a saved myself a fortune. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 😬 JJ
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted July 17, 2012 Author Leadership Team Share Posted July 17, 2012 Weren't you warned And btw, what length did you fit? 😬 Stu.
mav
Mine are just long enough, made up individually by me. Just buy the tube and make to fit Stu. will give you a shout in the morning.
Englishmaninwales
Hi Stu I used 2 or 3 short lengths of plastic tubing cut longitudinally and fitted to the braided hoses, clamped in place by thin cable ties. The brake hose is then off the dedion tube. If you can wait until tomorrow I will measure up. Malcolm
mav
I used metal p-clips with rubber protection and it holds the std ss braided tube off the ddt.
TomB
I used 'Twistwrap sleeving' from Vehicle Wiring Products to wrap the hoses in here

Rob Walker
Why should the braided hoses damage your tube ? there is no movement. I have fitted several sets without a problem.
Area Representative bluenose Posted July 18, 2012 Area Representative Share Posted July 18, 2012 Got mine from Caterham and covered them in convoluted tubing. Nick
Rattie
Just get the Goodridge 600 Colourflex hose rather than the uncoated 600. It's a couple of quid extra over the whole setup. Plus you can have it in clear, black or pretty colours 😬
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted July 18, 2012 Author Leadership Team Share Posted July 18, 2012 That's what I've concluded A couple of metres of Goodridge 600 plus the various fittings. Stu.
