I doubt if it will harm the alloy but as Kurust is meant to be used on rusty steel you may find it doesnt stick very well. You also need to use an etch primer on ali, the normal car stuff doesnt stick very well.

 

Was the scab like a small bubble ? If so it may be galvanitic corrosion coming through from underneath where the steel tubes on the chassis have corroded and are attacking the aluminium (do a search for corrosion and you will find lots of posts, several of them with my name on them....). If this is the case the only way you'll stop it is to get something between the chassis tubes and the outer skin.

 

Was it on the side of the body under the scuttle end of the bonnet ? That seems to be the most common area, especially on mid-90's cars where the powdercoat wasnt done very well.
