Track Rod End Gaitors

I don't think you can critises Caterham for this one, I'm fairly sure the suppliers don't offer the gaiters separately. Can you superglue the nick 🤔 This might sound like a daft idea but I came across some CV boots that you superglue shut (avoids removing the driveshaft and CV joint, saves hours).

Hoopy,

Are you after the little plastic thing on the track rod end or a track rod gaiter/boot ? If it's the former I might have one - I thought I ordered a boot a while ago but got a little piece of plastic in the post instead - I'll have a look later...

I want the conical bit of rubber that gets slightly squished as you put the taper from the track rod end into the track rod arm on the upright. Its about 32 mm diameter at one end, 12 mm at the other and 15 mm or so tall.

Not sure what the little plastic thing you mention is *confused*

Fast Westie, do you mean they don't fit a westie, or don't fit a Caterham. or is the track rod end the same in both cases

Westfields use an Escort track rod end, a Transit drag link for an upper ball joint and a Cortina or Maxi (yeuch!) lower ball joint.

Did you try a range of sizes or is the design just totally wrong

I tried a range of them and they didn't clip on the joints correctly

The car in front is a Westfie1d *wink*

Could you not carefully remove the one you have, clean up with white spirit and then apply some black silicone sealant... if it doesn't last for long, at least the credit card had a month off..... or

you can get 'special' glue to do CV gaiters, which I think is just like bike puncture repair glue

You mean you can drive these?

I thought it was just there to polish 😬

Are you sure that you are not at cross purposes with Caterham? I bought a pair of 'gators' from them when the kids rabbit ate one of mine! Can't remember the cost, but it is bound to be cheaper than a full track rod end.
