1996 1.4 Roadsport

Very sorted 1400k 135BHP with nice bits on it (aero, dry sump, LSD, etc.).

Hardly used in the last two years (Ben & his friend had shared ownership of it), most of last year was in the garage stored!

 

Maintained by Andy Belcher.

 

Having chased Ben & Al in this car (on occasion) I can testify that it's pretty rapid (either that or it deals with the bumpy B roads far better than my old Blackbird or perish the thought - I'm not as brave as a couple of 20somethings!).

I hope it's not rude to ask, but how does the 1.4 produce 135 bhp?

It shouldn't make 135bhp unless it is very heavily modified. I thought these had 115 tops.

Must add though, the 1.4 is underrated... I love 'em.

1400 Supersport kit. Was cams and (?) throttle body and raised rev limit.

The first 7 I drove was a factory dev't car with this engine kit.

It had a 5 speed box. For balls out blatting mode, it was effectively a 3 speed 'cos it would do 90mph in 3rd.

IIRC it also had 16" wheels and pre anti-dive suspension. It had a mind of its own on uneven cambers.

No matter - the bug bit me hard and (eventually) I bought my 7

 

This car for sale on Superlight suspension and smaller wheels should be one sweet handling car.

I often fancy wringing out a 1400 could be the best 7ing....

 

Lovely car for someone, including my friend who will be shown this ad.

Standard 1400 was 105. Supersport was about 120, hence the question.
