Rampmonkey
Evening! Got a constant and consistent 10mph over read on my analogue speedo. Not unworkable but I'd like to try and sort it. Any ideas? Cheers!
shn7
Do you mean mechanical? If so aside from changing tyres/gearing or sending it away to be recalibrate I don't think there's much you can do. If it's electronic then there are dip switches under a grommet on the rear. A search should get you the settings.
Rampmonkey
Yeah, it be mechanical! I've yet to own a seven where the speedo actually worked properly!
Member Jonathan Kay Posted May 22, 2012 Member Share Posted May 22, 2012 Use a GPS device to get true values. Then Letraset to add a few marks to the glass. Jonathan
Mike Biddle
All car speedos over read because law says that they are allowed to be up to 10% fast, but not allowed to read slow at all, so manufacturers play it safe. Even then you'll probably have to choose between optimistic speed and accurate mileage, or accurate speed and pessimistic mileage. (This won't help the OP one jot, I'm afraid, but may be of use to others.) JV
