CrossFlow ID

Gun Bunny

Recommended Posts

Have acquired a crossflow engine from a supersprint and need to identify the builder to discover the specification rather than strip and measure. Do any of the following clues ring a bell.

External surfaces all painted matt black.

Surfaces under valve cover around the valve gear are painted blue.

Normal position for engine number is bare.

Has an unpainted area and stamp mark next to bell housing mounting bolts 1K25.

I think you are on a loser here, the clues you give dont mean anything other than it was possibly a recon engine block some time in its life. I am not sure whether a recon would come with a stamped engine number. I think stripping the engine would be a good move, at least the sump should come off, so you can have a look at the main bearings, crank, pistons and con rods, there may be some good bits in there, or in the worst case some other sort of bits that you dont want, the pieces of metal that float around in the oil !!

Cheers

Glenn
