Ian Hayward
I have a 97’ Superlight with AP LSD fitted. With the rear of the car jacked up and the engine in gear, when I spin one wheel the other goes in the opposite direction, which I believe is correct for this LSD. However with the car out of gear, when I turn one wheel the other barely moves, sometime it rotates in the same direction for a bit then stops. Is this right? I seem to remember the other wheel used to always rotate in the same direction Ian
Area Representative bluenose Posted May 3, 2012 Area Representative Share Posted May 3, 2012 Ian I think this is OK. The AP Suretrac is a bit strange in its operation. I can check how mine is at the weekend although I am sure someone more knowledgable than me will be along to explain it fully. Nick
Klunk
Hi Ian , That's exactly what mine does. Thisis worth a read but I'm not sure it makes anything clearer . All I know is it seems to work! 😬 Regards, Giles
Ian Hayward
That’s OK then, It just seems different from when I last checked it, I’m sure the wheels used to both turn. It may be that they just turn through a bit of drag in the diff, can’t say I’ve ever tried to stop one wheel while the other is turning, so maybe a bit of extra friction from the rear brakes is enough to stop it? I'll just get on and drive it then Thanks Ian
